Guitar related question
« on: December 23, 2009, 08:56:25 PM »
Hello Mark!

Let me first say that I love your stuff! Especially the Duke Nukem Total Meltdown soundtrack. It's stuck with me ever since I was a kid. Every track is so addictive! Thanks for the great music! ;D

Ok, on to my question. I was wondering how you got your guitar tone on tracks like Chaingun in my Hands, Chemicals 2 Yer Brain and Chemicals F*ck Yer Head? I know you've got the mids scooped way out but it'd be great if you could tell me what equipment/guitars/pickups you used during those recordings. Thank you so much man! Take care!  :)

Hello mate,

Glad you like the music - I get a lot of positive feedback about it. GTInteractive really didn't from what I remember, lol.

Thanks for the question. All of those sounds were from a sample library called Methods of Mayhem - looks like Sony distribute it now, and a heck of a lot cheaper than it was when I bought it ;)

The only guitars I recorded were for "JungleDick"

Cheers,

Aha! Thanks! Yeah I really dig that tune too... I love when the bass line comes in. ;D But yeah I'm definitely going to check out that program. I'm always looking for new junk to add into my library! Well, I look forward to hearing new material from you, especially the possible Total Meltdown re-recording/re-mix album! Take care man and happy holidays and happy new year! :)

It's pretty cheap now, you'll recognise a lot from DN in that library ;)

Yeah - Once the Cyberspeed album is done (really really almost now) then I'll be on the case, but I get at most a couple of Sunday afternoons in the music room these days so it takes time,

Happy New Year to you too!,

Oh yeah I definitely recognized a lot! Pretty cool library... I can hear that a lot of bands took sounds from it as well. Most notably was White Zombie with the intro to the track "Ratfinks, Suicide Tanks, Cannibal Girls"! Crazy! But yeah there's some cool stuff in there for sure. I really look forward to hearing the new Total Meltdown tracks. :o But take your time man! We'll all be waiting. ;D

Ahh - you got it :) I may get the 2nd one for the sheer hell of it :)

Yep - just got this final track to do for Cyberspeed to get done, make sure the mastering is as good as I can get it, and then it's Duke Nukem I think (I also have a Warhammer Dark Omen project on the go too) - too many things, too little time ;)

Cheers mate,
